SO, I've split up the large files, then saved as mp4, transferred, but once again, the ps3 did something to the file to shrink it from 3gb to 700mb...
WHAT is going on?
Please help
I have no idea - I was pointing out the limits as to using a compressed drive I was in no way attempting to deal with your compression issues. My post was not addressing that at all.
kuebby was the one to suggest a FAT based drive - not me.

Magento is built for Ecommerce. It's bloated like OSC, but there is a big support structure, and it's more modular then OSC for your plugings and themes. We do everything in Magento and Magento Enterprise now.

I have to say that my loyalty to Apple dropped a bit. Mac Pro really tested my patience and the update was definately worth it but why in the hell did they not update ACDs to go with it? I really hope they will do silent update this week so I can buy my MP+ACD and forget Apple for few months (until I have money for a notebook) :)

Am I the only person around here who doesn't see an issue with scratches on this (or for that matter the current iPods)?
I know the plastic scratches, but does that honestly affect your use or viewing at all? The few scratches that are on my 5.5G iPod (and before that, my nano) have absolutely no effect on my viewing of the display whatsoever? If the backlight is off, or you hold it at a weird angle maybe, but otherwise who cares? Why do phones and iPods and other handhelds always have to look shiny new?
I personally scuff up my sneakers and jeans as soon as I buy them. Same idea here... I kinda like when stuff is broken in. Feels better to me. If it affected viewing in some way I would understand, but it really doesn't?

I imagine it happening like that episode of the simpsons where lisa makes that new doll and everyone's excited and everything then as all the children run towards the display of dolls. WHOOSH! The sheet is pulled of a shiny display of brand new Malibu Stacy dolls, now with trendy new hat!
Just replace the Lisa doll with the Zune and Malibu Stacy with hat with a brand new Widesreen, touch sensitive iPod.....with hat lol :D

Thanks! Yes, I have lowered them and get about 15 fps on both games. I guess I can live with that considering the resolution is a step above playing these games through something like Onlive which is kind of janky on wifi and muddy graphics.

I think that local connection is what they used - cool stuff. Is that in MX 2004 or the newest version?
It's been there a while, probably the first MX (6) release.

KDE's Digikam already supports GPS-mapping
well i guess no one else should do it, improve on it, etc, then eh? i'm still pissed at apple for wasting its time on final cut pro when adobe premiere already existed for the same market

Get the Dropbox app but BE SURE to download their free desktop software too(Mac or PC) and set up a folder on your computer. The app is really only useful if you have that as well.
You really should search this site, there are many other past threads like this that will give you a ton of ideas. But until then, here's a bunch I like.
Dropbox (To sync with your Desktop Dropbox folder)
iTorch4 (flashlight)
AwesomeNote (Can sync with Google Documents)
NewsRack (IF you use it to sign into a Google-Reader Account)
Files Pro (to copy files using USB through iTunes)
Apple's Remote (if you have an AppleTV)
Angry Birds (There are 3: orginal, seasons, or Rio)
Twitter/Linkendin/Facebook/Wordpress (Whatever you do, they probably have an app.)
Harbor Master
Netflix or Hulu+ (if you subscribe to either)

I own a Macbook pro and find it near impossible to install Applications downloaded from websites like HANDANGO and the like.
It is impossible. You need to run Windows on the Mac to install them.

I've never understood the argument against the Air because of it's lack of DVD drive. I have no idea when the last time was I used mine, and it takes up a massive amount of space and weight on my MacBook.
I'm sure some people have uses of a DVD drive and for them its understandable, but I feel most people, myself included fall into the "I can't remember the last time I've used my CD/DVD drive ..." category. Which is why I replaced mine entirely with a SSD drive, which I boot from. I would recommend it to anybody with the available funds.

i was (a student) living at union square in nyc (~1.5 miles north of the towers). i strolled out of bed at probably 10 am or so. did my morning email check... a friend who didn't email me often had written "i see bad things happening in nyc... are you ok?" i thought he meant in general bad things like gangs and whatnot... it didn't click. i forget what caused me to put on the tv, but eventually i did and i was in shock. emails back and forth to family discussing the events and various news reports that came out ("bomb" in pentagon, etc)...
my roommate returned a bit later, having walked down the street to school earlier in the morning, seeing the towers as usual. and then on the way back, they were gone.
classes were cancelled for a week.
my then girlfriend's dad and brother worked in the general area, and both were not heard from until after 1 pm... it was scary. they both made it up to my girlfriend's dorm by foot (2 miles or so).
later that day my roommate and i went down to around canal st. which was as far as they'd let us walk. and took pictures of dust covered cars, ambulances filled with people, etc. nothing super dramatic (they didn't let us get close at all), but still.. just unreal.
the next day, the wind changed and started blowing north.... our lungs were filled with the smoke as our windows were opened, unprepared. to this day, i feel i have developed allergies (never had them prior) as a result of the pollution in nyc after the attack. and of course, the city declared it clean in relatively little time, killing and disabling rescue workers and others who were ill prepared to deal with it. sad
reading all these experiences one thing keeps coming up (and came up in news stories a ton of course) and that is the people who stayed home that day, or got in late that day, etc etc who were nearly there, and nearly possibly killed... and it makes me wonder if anyone else has considered how amazing it is (in a scary way) that the death toll was *only* ~3000 when on any given day more like 100,000 people are in the two towers....

I think that's pretty normal. Apps just start to use more RAM the longer you keep them up, whether or not people admit it.
For example, after Safari is open for a couple weeks, it uses much more RAM. Of course a large part of that is me having 52 tabs open, but I notice that while Safari uses 1.66 GB now, restarting Safari completely (and restoring all of my tabs via the extension Glims), uses 1.01 GB of RAM. Clearly, having Safari open causes an accumulation of RAM. I don't know if this is because browsing various sites causes those sites to be stored in RAM at all (I always thought they were just stored in the cache however).
I've noticed this with other programs too, like iTunes and iChat. Opening iChat can use maybe 60MB and it can rise to 100MB. iTunes can rise from 60-70MB to around 100-130MB.
I don't notice a slowdown really, but that is because I have 8GB of RAM. Nevertheless, if the RAM usage is important to you, you can use some apps over others. I found Adium uses consistently less RAM than iChat. You can quit out of iTunes when you aren't playing music. I'm not sure about Chrome, but maybe closing tabs will reduce the RAM occupied by that tab since Chrome sandboxes each tab. Either way, I don't know if I blame Snow Leopard. Did this happen in Leopard at all? I just figure it's because of lazy application developers who use the wealth of RAM available on computers today to be lazy with optimizing performance and resource intensiveness.

Yep i've seen it before. When I gave beejive to my friend he installed it on his iphone directly. so it looks like we still need to wait for jailbreak and we'll have to use some sort of installer directly on the ipad in order to load version 1 of the app since its no longer in app store

Agreed. Unfortunately, The FCC has been derelict in failing to bring the wireless providers to account.
As to paying $170 to unlock an iPhone, why not simply jailbreak it and be done with it for a whole lot less money. One of the jailbreaks I have seen is quite simple, although it is specific to the particular iOS version which requires that it be done again every time there is an iOS update (after the jailbreak crew works out the new version).
The store for non-Apple apps, "Cydia" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codling_moth), is amusingly named.
u make it sound so easy, the iPhone 4 can't be unlocked with the latest baseband yet
After the 2 year contract, I do not see a reduction in my monthly Verizon bill. I have paid for the device, so why is there no reduction?
exactly, thats how it works here in germany. u either buy it unlocked but not subsidized without a plan or u get it locked for like 1 euro and once your contract expires after 2 years u get it unlocked for free OR u pay 100 euro to get it unlocked right away which is still cheaper considering the iPhone itself was only 1 euro.
