I think there is a good chance IBM will supply the G4 for Apple at some point. There may be contracts with Motorola we don't know about, so who knows when it would happen? Since IBM will have their 0.09 process working next year, a G4 from them may go over 2 GHz. :)
Motorola is also to be getting 0.09 with their new partnership or whatever it is. But that is Motorola. Likely Apple's chips will be the last to go 0.09, if ever. :(
So IBM may be the Mac's brightest hope for the PPC chip family.

Keep in mind that T-Mobile also operates Wi-Fi hotspots and probably will get into get into the wireless internet biz soon. Talking with Apple doesn't necessarily mean they are talking phones. It could be some other marketing or technical arrangement about some other product or Leopard feature.
...
Considering my experience with T-Mobile hotspots, they should leave the business as quickly as possible.

congrats for the iBook. Now TenFourFox is intended to be already set to play youtube videos at low resolution and quality, 360p is really choppy on mine, be sure to use flashblock, it will make browsing experience far better, one good thing you can do for videos is to use the method i explained in my other thread by replacing youtube's default player with quicktime, use MacTubes, or download an Firefox extension within TenFourFox named SmartVideo For YouTube 0.8 in which you can set the videos to start buffering as soon as page loads and select small quality display, with that i can watch youtube videos just fine, test all three and see what you like more :)

I like it. One thing that you might consider changing is set the default for both applications to more info. It took me a second (could just that be I'm slow) to figure out what was going on. Nice clean look though. Reminds me of Apple design. ;)

Wrong way round - it's userland, therefore WILL be tethered. See explanation here:
http://bit.ly/gN060d
actually, there are untethered userland jailbreaks. Look at the jailbreakme.com exploit from 4.0 / 4.0.1 for the iPhone 4.

And no doubt developers are in for a lot of work if they have to make all their applications 'flexible'
From my understanding, hopefully not too much work. Basically, bitmap images need to be replaced with vector images if possible (or high resolution versions - I think I read app icons should be 256x256...). Same goes for any custom GUI components (which usually just use bitmap images). Everything else is handled by the OS.

The Pixelskin HD from Speck looked like a good pick for the iPhone 4, and I hope to see one for the new Touch.

You have to use that programe on the Mac. I was wondering if on a PC if there is any way to convert the windows media file to a MP3 file with iTunes or something?
That is good to know that I can do it on my Mac. Thank You for the link.

If it was any other store I would say no but Apple are famously accommodating (and probably more so if you've just spent thousands on a Mac Pro).
Then again, if you can afford said thousands, just buy the bluetooth keyboard separately and keep the wired as a spare!
I hope they are :)
That is not a bad idea.. but i'm planning to spend the left over $300 on some extra ram :D
If they aren't accommodating then i might just have to cancel my purchase ;)

I see, it makes perfect sense.
When the case for my new drive arrives I'll try your solution since my Mac Mini 1.66 Core Duo has been struggling a bit lately (the sad thing is that it's blazing fast on Windows 7, I guess that's because I'm limited to 2GB of RAM and UNIX based systems like OS X improve a lot by adding more)

I wonder if users who have both PPC and Intel Macs will have to buy seperate copies of Leopard rather than just multiple license packs...

Heck i've got a 16gb iPhone (refurb) coming in the mail tomorrow which i'll sell to you for $500 shipped. I assume it'll be in like-new condition.

Post some code for us to know what you are trying to do.
You do know that the accelerometer output consists of 3 values for the X Y and Z components of acceleration, right?
See: http://www.switchonthecode.com/tutorials/iphone-tutorial-reading-the-accelerometer for example. (Google search, no experience with the tutorial).

That's so true! I really wanted to go ultimate this time and that's what i did
But i have to admit the cheapest iMacs are the best deals this time
*Edit*
One thing i'de like to add. If video editing for you means doing some cuts, arranging your material and maybe doing a quick colour correction you don't need a powerfull machine. Actually i'm doing this with 1080p DSLR and Sony EX Cam footage on my two year old mac mini without problems.
The reason i'm ordering a new iMac is that i hit my computers limits when doing extensive compositing in After Effects.
Hope that helps

Is it unresponsive indefinitely?
Plug it in and then don't touch iTunes for a minute or so, don't click anything. After a minute, then start clicking away. Does it work then?

Hi all,
My first post on this site and already I am on the want..
I'm looking to upgrade the HDD of my Mini, current specs below.
I would like to take it up to 1.5TB or 2TB. It is something that is in my sphere of capability so not so worried about the actual doing of it.
Can anyone recommend a HDD that would be suitable and would fit?
Thanks,
Gledders

What I don't understand why is their so much news about 4.3.1, when everyone said stay away from it. Their is no 4.3 news anywhere. Is 4.3 not being jailbroken?
4.3 was jailbroken, but the jailbreak hasn't been released publicly. It's not known if 4.3.1 can be jailbroken, hence the warnings not to upgrade. Right now the hackers are trying to see if 4.3.1 can be jailbroken, hence all the talk is about that. If it turns out it can be jailbroken, then a JB will be released for 4.3.1, and we'll be told it's ok to upgrade. If not, a JB will be released for 4.3, and you'd be glad you didn't upgrade.

Yeah, it looks nice but I'm a bit bored of the genre now. I loved Air Combat on the PS1 but I tried to get back into it with the newer games and eh, looks like I'm not missing out on much.
Joint Assault on the PSP looked brilliant and reminded me a lot of Peace Walker (probably my fave game of 2010) but it just wasn't fun to play.

My roommate is taking a geography class in college right now. (Just an FYI, he is an older student in his 30's).
His teacher works for google on their maps. He has slipped in class several times saying Apple is working on putting GPS into the iPod. (He, the teacher, knows this because it is what he does full time for Google).
Anyway, this looks like the GPS in iPhoto is not related to the iPod, but eh you never know, iPhoto does work with the iPod in a way now as it is...

what a great forum, everyone! so glad to have found it. been reading and reading thread after thread all afternoon.
spending some pleasant time putting a little shine into my daughter's new ibook g4... getting it ready for her to use as her first real computer. she's six. got it for her for her birthday from geeks.com. $200 shipped. felt that was a pretty good deal. she's very excited about it.
i've got a couple questions i hope y'all can help with:
1. i've installed the lastest tenfourfox. seems to be a solid browser. same problems with jumpy flash video on sites like youtube that everyone seems to have... if i've read things correctly, there's no real good fix for this if tenfourfox doesn't help?
2. tenfourfox is supposed to be html5 compliant. right? so why do sites like vimeo.com recommend i get an html 5 compliant browser? have i overlooked a checkbox somewhere?
3. a few of the sites she loves (pbs.kids) require an upgrade to flash 10.2 to view some of their content. that upgrade can't be done on a ppc. right? i've been all over the google looking for a workaround for this and can find none. just thot i'd throw that out there in case i missed something.
thanks again for your help in advance. really have enjoyed reading thru your helpful forum today!

Yep. I agree. And if you've used Android lately on a phone, you'd say iPhone what?!?! Apple still has the more solid tablet but Android OS will have that market by summertime as well.
Don't bother flaming, it's well documented in the sales figures that Android has taken the #1 spot in the Phone OS model... my only point is Apple is at a critical turning point in their history. They can give customers what they want, or restrict. Customers don't like to be restricted, and like me, seek alternatives when cornered.
What you fail to realise is that Apple are giving their customers what they want. Apple customers do like to be restricted, that's why they are Apple customers and that's why they buy Apple products.

hi,
what been missed out in this discussion is that the ACD has no HDCP support !!! that means no protected Blueray HD content plays
( maybe thats why there is no blue ray option yet !)
and even when DVI is compatible to HDMI , without HDCP the ACD stays black, which makes the name Cinema a bit obsolete ,
